Ryan Fireprotection is proud to announce that our EMR is at an all-time low! But what exactly does that mean?
EMR stands for Experience Modifier Rate. It is a metric used by insurance companies to determine how likely it is that a business will experience worker’s compensation claims. Essentially, it measures how safely companies can complete projects.
To calculate your EMR, insurance companies start with data reported to the National Council on Compensation Insurance, and compare your data against the industry average. An EMR of 1.0 indicates that your claims history over the past five years is average for a business in your industry of your size. A score higher than 1.0 indicates that you have a more costly claims history than average, and a score under 1.0 indicates that your history shows a lower risk of costly claims. Claims history data takes into account the number of incidents, the type of incident (for instance, medical or time lost), and the amount paid out for each incident.
Ryan Fireprotection’s EMR for 2019-2020 is 0.66 and the overall current EMR is 0.75. The industry average is 1.00. Ryan Fireprotection is dedicated to safety and our hard work and detail-oriented approach is paying off in huge ways. Safe work pays off!
